The story
For years, the title of the most expensive chess set in the world was held by the Jewel Royale Chess Set, designed in 2005 by the British jeweler Boodles. Its pieces are made of 18-carat gold and platinum, set with 73 rubies, 146 sapphires, 748 diamonds, and black South Sea pearls. The king piece alone, in yellow gold, weighs 165 grams and is crowned with a natural ruby. The set is valued at $9.8 million, approximately €9.1 million (source: https://www.invaluable.com/blog/expensive-chess-sets-a-look-at-the-most-valuable-boards-and-pieces/).
Most Expensive Brand now claims this title — differently.
Ours is not a jewel-chess-set. It is the Super Luxury Chess Set by Geoffrey Parker, handmade in the Essex workshops since 1958. Pieces in solid Sterling silver, hallmarked London, finished with 3-micron gold leaf. Genuine alligator leather board, suede lining, hand-bound leather book-box. Geoffrey Parker counts among its clients the world's leading luxury houses and jewelers, and several world chess champions.
The previous record was a piece of jewelry. Ours is a piece of British craftsmanship. The price is not in the material. It is in the promise: to be, in its category, the most expensive object in the world. Nothing less.
